Out of Place

Thurs 26 & Fri 27 June 2025, 12 – 5pm. Art Exhibition with visual artist Maria Pesma.

‘You can never successfully remove someone violently from a place they belong, because you cannot erase the gap they leave behind’.

Exploring the nature of absence, Maria has designed and created an installation consisting of sculptural objects and paintings for the particular space of the Leper Chapel as a response and a tribute to the early history of the place and to those who had been cast out socially, as well as to all those who have been exiled or refused entry or transported or removed from sight.

The exhibition continues on June 28 and 29 with different opening hours when there will also be performances by in situ: emphasising and exploring the human voice, which will add to the experience.
