The walk starts at the Leper Chapel, a circular route  across commons and a meadows and more industrial and urban landscapes, sometimes  alongside the River Cam and her tributaries.  The walk will be around 10km, and be on paths and sometimes on uneven ground

The walk is guided by nature writer and campaigner Amy-Jane Beer, who may read from The Flow: Rivers, Water and Wildness and Wild Service: Why Nature Needs You.

Themes to explore:

  • kinship, reciprocity, connecting with place.
  • Acknowledgement of pressures on rivers, grief, and hope for better 
  • Access to land, nature, land ownership and laws
  • Caretaking, stewardship, relationship, belonging
  • Rights of nature
  • Preciousness of water

There is no on-site parking for cars at the venue. parking in side streets, or arrive by taxi.

There will be a toilet at the Leper Chapel for use by attendees (not disabled access). 

 

Access information 

The ground may be muddy and uneven, though it will be over relatively flat terrain. Let us know if you are coming in a mobility scooter or wheelchair or have any paeticular concerns.

You do not need to be particularly fit to go on this walk, but to be able to stand for some periods, so if you struggle with this you could bring a chair or a stick, or come with a friend to lean on! It will be taken at a moderate pace.
