Preserving Our Heritage: Wandlebury’s Iconic Buildings
High on the roof of Wandlebury House the old clocktower has watched over the park for generations. Its copper cupola, weathered by time and the elements, has become one of Wandlebury’s most familiar silhouettes, a symbol of continuity in a place that changes with every season.
This autumn, thanks to the generous support of our members and donors, essential maintenance work is underway on both the clocktower and the nearby Tadlow Granary. These quiet but important projects will help ensure two of Wandlebury’s most distinctive historic buildings remain safe and sound for years to come.
Specialist contractors are carefully repairing damaged leadwork, treating exposed timber, and preventing further weather and wildlife damage. The work requires real skill (and courage at height!) and is part of our ongoing commitment to caring for Wandlebury’s heritage.
Though less visible than new projects or major restorations, this kind of steady maintenance is what keeps Wandlebury’s history alive.
