Wandlebury Half Term 2026

Wandlebury Country Park is a lovely place to spend time outdoors this autumn half term.

Autumn half-term adventures at Wandlebury

Golden leaves underfoot, woodland paths to explore and a Halloween mystery to solve: Wandlebury Country Park is a lovely place to spend time outdoors this autumn half term.

Whether you’re bringing the family for an adventure or looking for a quiet walk and a warming coffee, there’s plenty to enjoy just outside Cambridge. Entry to the park is free, with car parking charges supporting the work of local charity Cambridge Past, Present & Future.

Follow the Halloween Hunt

Our free Halloween Hunt runs until Sunday 1 November, offering a little seasonal magic among the trees.

Collect a trail sheet from the foyer under the clocktower, then follow the trail around the ancient ring ditch. Find the hidden ingredients, collect the letters and work out the magic word. Return your completed sheet to the foyer for a chance to win a prize.

It’s a gentle outdoor adventure to enjoy together, with time along the way to crunch through leaves and explore. Donations towards caring for Wandlebury are always appreciated.

Make a day of it

Autumn brings fresh colour to Wandlebury’s woods and meadows, with the magnificent beech trees a particular highlight. Follow the paths through the park, explore the Iron Age ring ditch or find a quiet spot to pause and watch the season change.

Bring a picnic, pull on your wellies and let the children lead the way. Sometimes the best days out begin with a path and no particular plan.

Coffee pop-ups will be at Wandlebury every day throughout half term, so you can pick up a warming drink before your walk or settle down for a break afterwards.

Woodland adventures with Wild Thyme & Embers

For children who love being outdoors, Holiday Bushcraft returns from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, 8.30am–4pm.

Run by experienced instructors from Wild Thyme & Embers, the sessions are for children aged 5–14. Activities include shelter building, fire lighting, woodland games, whittling and wilderness cooking, helping children develop practical skills and confidence in nature.

Sessions cost £54 per child per day. Children should bring a packed lunch, a refillable water bottle and suitable outdoor clothing, including a change of clothes.

Lend a hand for nature

Join our Volunteer Work Party at Wandlebury on Tuesday 27 October, 10.30am–1.30pm, and help care for the park and its wildlife.

It’s a chance to get active, meet people and learn practical countryside skills. Instructions, equipment and tools are provided; just wear sturdy clothes and footwear and bring a drink and snacks.

Meet at the car park noticeboards. No booking is needed, and under-18s are welcome with an accompanying adult. Groups of three or more should email warden@cambridgeppf.org at least 48 hours beforehand.

Walk, talk and enjoy the autumn colour

Our free Healthy Walking group meets every Thursday, including Thursday 29 October.

Choose the 10am walk, lasting around an hour, or the slower 10.30am walk, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Both welcome new faces, with a chance to enjoy a coffee and conversation afterwards.

Meet at the entrance to the Stables, beside the pop-up coffee station. There’s no need to book—just come along.
