Why Cambridge’s Green Spaces Matter

Coton Vision The Reserve was established in 2004 to provide public access to the countryside and address declining nature. It includes habitats, paths, visitor facilities, and over 200 acres of leased arable farmland, generating funds for our work. Our vision…
At Coton Reserve you can find a variety of lowland countryside habitats including ponds, streams, meadows, orchards, hedgerows and woodland copse, alongside wildlife friendly farm habitats including grassland and field margins.
We are creating a new wetland in Coton Reserve. The aim is to use nature to treat water from Coton sewage works and farmland. This will improve water quality in the Bin Brook (River Cam catchment) as well as creating new wildlife habitat and a community resource. It will also help reduce carbon emissions.
Cambridge Past, Present & Future purchased farmland at Coton in the 1930s to prevent urban sprawl and protect the historic villages of Coton, Grantchester and Madingley.
Our sites provide some of the best walking in the Cambridge area. Explore woodland trails, historic landmarks, and family-friendly activities.
